A plain-English explanation of what happens to the information you share with us through this site.

About this website

This site operates as a lead generation service for subsidence and structural repair work in the Edinburgh area. We are not the company that carries out the works on your home. When you submit an enquiry through the form, we collect your details and pass them to one or more vetted, qualified specialist companies operating in your area who can quote for or carry out the requested service. Once an enquiry has been passed, the receiving company becomes an independent data controller and will contact you directly.

What we collect

When you complete the enquiry form, we collect the information you provide: full name, telephone number, email address, postcode or property address, and the content of any message you write. We also collect technical information automatically when you visit the site, including your IP address, the device and browser you are using, the pages you view, and the site that referred you here.

If you contact us by phone or email instead, we collect the information you choose to share through that route.

Lawful basis for processing

Under Article 6 of the UK GDPR we rely on two lawful bases. The first is your consent, given when you submit the enquiry form having read the on-form notice that explains what will happen to your details. You can withdraw that consent at any time. The second is our legitimate interest in operating an enquiry-matching service that connects homeowners with qualified specialists in their area.

How we use your information

The information you give us is used to match your enquiry to one or more suitable specialist companies, to contact you about your enquiry, to detect fraud and spam, and to improve the service. If you have separately opted in to marketing, we may use your contact details to send occasional updates relevant to your enquiry topic.

Who we share your information with

Your enquiry is shared with one or more qualified specialist companies in your area. We also share data with a small number of categories of processor who help us operate the site, including hosting providers, email and CRM platforms, and analytics services. Each processor handles data on our written instructions only. We do not sell your information to advertisers or list brokers under any circumstances.

International transfers

Some of the processors we use are based outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK government, or on an adequacy decision, to ensure your information receives appropriate protection.

How long we keep enquiries

Enquiry records are kept for 24 months from the date of your submission. After that point the record is deleted from active systems. Backups containing personal data are overwritten in line with our backup retention schedule.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct anything that is wrong, to ask us to delete your data, to restrict how we use it, to object to particular uses, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact form. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information.

Cookies and tracking

The site uses a small number of essential cookies needed for the site to function, and may use analytics cookies to help us understand how the site is used. Where applicable, conversion pixels are used to measure the effectiveness of advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Children

This service is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No system is completely secure, and we will tell you promptly if we become aware of an incident affecting your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always available at this address with the last-updated date shown at the top of the page.
