Foundation Piling in Edinburgh

When ground conditions will not give you safe bearing at shallow depth, piles take the load down to something that will. We install mini-piles for everything from rear extensions on London Road to remedial piling beneath sunk Georgian basements in Stockbridge.

Problem

Ground investigations show soft made ground for several metres, or the existing strip footing has failed and a deeper solution is the only honest answer.

Why it matters

Standard concrete underpinning will not reach competent ground. Going deeper with hand-dug bays is slow, dangerous and expensive.

Our solution

Mini-piling. A restricted-access rig drills piles to the design depth, the piles are tied into a reinforced cap, and the cap picks up the wall above. Loads end up on solid ground without weeks of excavation.

Why choose us for foundation piling

Restricted-access rigs

Our smallest rigs fit through a 900 mm doorway, useful for terraced and tenement properties.

Low vibration

Sectional flight auger and screw pile options where neighbouring buildings are sensitive.

Verified capacity

Test piling and load testing on request.

Engineer-led design

Pile schedule, cap design and reinforcement detail signed off in-house.

Frequently asked questions

Most domestic piles in Edinburgh land between 6 and 12 metres, though we have gone deeper where boulder clay sits over softer layers.
